shattering of breaking glass woke my husband and me at 7:30, Sunday morning October 25.
What my husband, who was brave enough to investigate, found was an unusual intruder that busted through our kitchen window. The suspect, a beautiful Coopers Hawk, perched on a chair at the dining table, was traumatized but her behavior was as loud and disruptive as the sound of the breaking glass.
We prayed she didn’t have a head injury or possibly a broken wing. My husband carefully picked her up and put her in custody on the porch while we watched over her like a hawk (pun intended).
Finding her innocent after four hours of interrogation, she miraculously flew onto the neighboring tree and sat there until she was ready to soar into the Topanga wilderness to her next destination. Â
Was this a sign? A good omen? What does this all mean? After all, it is 2020. Anything could happen, and finding a hawk sitting at your Sunday breakfast table was an exceptional treat, as surprising as it was.
Posting this on NextDoor, elicited many responses that I found interesting, as we were only days away from a Presidential decision that will change the direction of the country and pave a new path for the years ahead!
Comments from two Topanga residents to my query of hawk meanings were comforting, even enlightening.
Lauren Labov submitted this interpretation from an article, How Seeing Hawks Often May Give Insight into Your Life. (powerofpositivity.com/see-hawks-often-meaning-spirit-animal/)
“Spread Your Wings and Expand Your Consciousness: When you have a hawk sighting, it’s a sign from the spirit realm that you are ready to take on a larger, more powerful expansion and vision of your world. The hawk symbolizes a need to start looking forward, envisioning your path ahead, and perhaps even preparing for a greater role in life. A hawk sighting is a direct message from the angels and the Great Spirit that the time has come to spread your wings, to fly higher, and to expand your vision. “
Cheri Adrian shared an insightful comment and something to think about during troubled times as we are experiencing now.
“In Cherokee culture, a hawk is a powerful protector, and one crossing your path is usually a good sign of protection and, in that sense, good fortune.
A hawk sees a long way and encourages you, too, to pay attention to the larger picture, the longer distance. However, given the urgency with which your hawk insisted on reaching you, I’d consider whet her it might be pretty intent on telling you to, “Hey! Pay Attention!” Perhaps to something important that you’ve ignored, or something that is coming. In any case, your visit is likely a good sign for you of a powerful force watching out for you. Either that, or this hawk’s vision isn’t fully developed or not so good anymore. I can’t imagine, Pamela, that you would want to dismiss such a powerful message from the spirit world.”
I recently read this about the meanings of hawk sightings in an article by LJ Innes in
CaliforniaPsychics.com that made complete sense to me.
“In the physical world, hawks have incredible eyesight, and because of that they have an association, in a spiritual sense, with clairvoyance, meaning, “to see.” When a hawk comes into your life, it’s telling you to trust your instincts and intuition, and let them lead you to the next step in line with your path. The hawk will not lead you on a path that is not yours to follow. They are simply here to show you that it’s time to expand your own road and make greater that which already exists within you. Having trust in your higher self will lead you to greater freedom of mind, body, and soul.”
So, in other words, you can call upon the hawk’s clarity to help you when you are feeling stuck, or when you feel something is missing in life. Often the answers we seek are right before us. Life, however, can get in the way. This may cause us to overlook even the most obvious next steps. The hawk’s focus can help us to not only see the bigger picture, but it can also reveal the clearest path ahead.
I found myself attached and very blessed to have had this animal spirit enter our home and will never forget this moment in my life.
