Halloween,s Fangtastic Forever Memories
Eloisa Carvalho Ribeiro gets into the spirit of the event
Hundreds of revelers from Topanga and beyond gathered at the Topanga Community Center for this year’s Spooktacular Halloween Carnival. Attendees were treated to a frightfully fun set from local rockers Kummerspeck and a magical performance from the Aztec dance group Kapulli Teotlalli Tepeyolotl at the annual event, which raised funds for Topanga Elementary Charter School (TECS).
Wednesday Addams — AKA Willow Anderson — enjoyed the face painting.
In a true community effort, each class at the school designed and built their own carnival game booth for folks to enjoy — with tarot card reading and face painting among the other fang-tastic offerings to enchant the crowd.

Topanga Enrichment Programs (TEP), the school’s booster club that raises funds for resources and staff LAUSD doesn’t pay for, organized the party, which was hosted at the Topanga Community Center. The proceeds will go towards enrichment education at the school, including the classroom aides and specialist science, art, technology, music, outdoor education and P.E. teachers.
Suzannah Tackett, pictured here with friend Barbara Altman, pulled all the right strings with her fabulous marionette costume.
Bernadette Gennaro, a TECS mom who led the event planning, said: “It was an amazing turnout. The kids had a wonderful time and the memories will last forever.â€

The event was supported by generous local sponsors — Sotheby’s International Realty Topanga Brokerage, and Adrian and Jordan Wright from The Wright Way Team with COMPASS.
