MOMentum Place Dazzles the Senses
Aerialist Lexi Pearl’s routine on the silks is dazzling and heart-stopping.
Spring is in the air as MOMentum Place returns triumphantly to the Theatricum Botanicum for a special Mother’s Day tribute on Sunday, May 8, at 2 p.m. Topanga’s own Lexi Pearl and her talented troupe have created a fantastical world of aerial and circus acts for the past 24 years to perform feats of wonder on the main stage of Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum. MOMentum Place is a celebration of life with a cast of aerialists, acrobats, jugglers, balancing acts, contortionists and many more surprises to astound the audience. Prior to the 2 p.m. Mother’s Day performance, early birds will enjoy a delectable catered buffet at noon prepared by Patrice Winter of The Angel in Your Kitchen and served in Theatricum’s bucolic garden under the oaks. (The buffet requires a separate $30 purchase). As an aerial acrobat, choreographer and trainer, Lexi has a huge resume that now includes working as a character on the upcoming Obi Wan Kenobi TV show on the Disney Channel. After graduating from the University of Santa Barbara, she danced professionally with companies like Diavolo Dance Theater and toured the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Japan. In 2002, she started as an aerialist, performing in the Bahamas for six months; had a national Fruit of the Loom commercial; and worked with Cirque Du Soleil. Always keeping busy with TV and stage shows, Lexi has also toured Brazil and China and had the opportunity to work with many companies in L.A. including Dream World Cirque; Way 2 Much Entertainment; Cirque Berzerk; E Plus Entertainment, Zen Arts and A Max entertainment. But in a prior interview, Lexi said that a career highlight was performing at President Obama’s inauguration with AntiGravity at the Neighborhood Ball. Yet it is in spring that Lexi Pearl, the creator of MOMentum Place in honor of her late mother, Karin Woodward, really brings it home to Topanga. “My mom was an actress and my dad, Bob, a magician,” she said. “My stepdad, Mark Scully, encouraged me to continue with MOMentum Place the first few years and has supported and helped at the event every year.” MOMentum Place at the Theatricum Botanicum, Sunday, May 8, 2022. Brunch: 12 p.m.-1:30 p.m.; Performance at 2 p.m. Tickets: Performance: $35 advance purchase, $40 at the door.
