As a follow-up to the L.A. Board of Supervisorsâ recent ban of homeless encampments in Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (VHFHSZ), the Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation (LVHF) has offered this guide to reporting homeless encampment activities in unincorporated areas of the Santa Monica Mountains.
For Non-Emergencies: Go to the Homeless Outreach Portal (LA-HOP) at to report encampment activities and make an outreach request. They will use this information to dispatch a homeless services outreach team to the area. It is easy: go to lahsa.org/portal/apps/la-hop/request, scroll to the bottom of the page, select the red âReady to Make a Requestâ button and fill it in.
NOTE: Be advised that there will be no immediate response from LA-HOP despite the fact that the Board has redirected them to prioritize VHFHSZ encampment outreach in these most critical zones. LVHF will be providing more detailed information on what has changed and what is transpiring now since the Board motion was adopted unanimously banning homeless encampments in VHFHSZs.
For Immediate Emergencies: Call 911 or the Lost Hills Sheriffâs department at (818) 878-1808, if there are dangerous wildfire and illegal encampment activities transpiring. Make sure you provide accurate location information. Then, also report it to LA-HOP.
