Topanga Actors Company (TAC) presents MOROCCO, by Allan Havis, on Zoom, Saturday, January 23 and Sunday January 24, 7 p.m.
Part psychological thriller, part political drama, MOROCCO presents audiences with a clash of cultures and an unexpected plot twist, all in under ninety minutes. It is “...a comedy of menace. Step by step, we are led into Mr Havis’s labyrinth,” says the New York Times.
A New York architect is on a prestigious construction contract in Fez, Morocco. His wife has mysteriously disappeared. When he confronts the local authorities, he is amazed at what he discovers.
American author, Allan Havis, has written 19 plays and a book on cult films. MOROCCO gathered awards from HBO and the Kennedy Center when it was first produced in 1986. As relevant now as in the nineteen-eighties, Havis’s compelling drama about Americans abroad examines attitudes in the international community towards our prejudices and presumptions, sometimes arrogant, sometimes naïve, but always culturally foreign.
